Father Calciu’s Will (excerpt)
To my parishioners, I leave this advice: Love one another as Jesus loved us, and thus show that we are the children of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sacrifice yourselves! Strive to build the church! Pray and be merciful to those in need!
To the architects who drew the plans of our Church without any material gain, may God multiply their talent and reward their love for working on this project for months to achieve the perfect shape, inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Please leave the Byzantine painting intact, with no other influences. Only painting, color and light … no relief icon, no icon influenced by today’s modernism!
I would like to thank the Parish Council for supporting and helping me. I am taking to the grave a huge love for you, for your sacrifice and your support through hardships, small misunderstandings, and my own weaknesses.
If I forgot some, I ask them to forgive me … I’m writing this on a hospital bed, I am weak and without any doubt my mind cannot include all those who loved me and whom I loved. God knows my love for them, and forgives my helplessness.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all! Amen.
