Welcome to Saint Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church!

Saint Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church of Potomac, Maryland extends its warm welcome to its new parishioners and visitors to the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

We hold fast to a traditional Romanian Orthodox worship setting in our Sunday services. We invite you to worship with us and learn about our Christian Orthodox faith, Sundays at 10:00 am. Our phone numbers, emails and physical address are all listed under the Contact page.

God Bless You!

On the weekend of MAY 16-18, 2025 a new edition of the ROMANIAN FESTIVAL will take place at our church property 9111 River Rd, Potomac, MD 20854.
The entrance is free! Free will donations for the construction of the “Moldovita la Washington DC” church are encouraged and desired.
During this weekend, the experience of Romanian tradition and culture will be at its best! Hundreds of volunteers are eagerly waiting for you and will greet you with the traditional “Bine ati venit!/Welcome!” and “Pofta Buna!/Enjoy your meal!”.
The Romanian culinary tradition will be at a high level as usual; your taste will be delighted by the mititei (romanian skinless sausages), lamb pastrami and the traditional Romanian “sarmale” (stuffed cabbage with different kind of meats), among others; Romanian drinks will also be available and the homemade pastries, prepared with a lot of love by our ladies, will crown your culinary experience. In parallel, the eyes will be delighted by the handicraft products present at the festival, by the beauty of the popular costumes displayed with much love by the festival guests. Hearing the folk music, will connect you with the millennial musical tradition of Romania. And, above all, this will be fulfilled in spiritual realms through the deeper understanding of Romanian Orthodox spirituality, which you are welcome to understand and embrace!
Therefore, we invite you to join us! Your presence will honor us and will bring to this edition of the Romanian Festival the uniqueness that only you, the supporters and guests of the Romanian festival, can give.

CAMPAIGN “DONATE PORCELAIN FOR THE BRIDE OF CHRIST.”  We invite you to support the “Donate porcelain for the Bride of Christ” campaign, a campaign through which we invite you to donate as many porcelain tiles as possible that will decorate the floor of the future church ($500 for a 24″x48″ tile “).

Why porcelain? Because at the moment the floor made of porcelain tiles is being installed both on the main level of the church and in the basement.

Why the Bride of Christ? Because this is the name of the Church in the pages of Holy Scripture.

The title of the campaign was inspired by reading Chapter 21 of the book of Revelation, the last book of the Holy Christian Scriptures, which we invite you to read carefully.

Therefore, we invite you to participate wholeheartedly in this unique campaign in the history of our church. Your donation can be made either in honor of relatives you married or grandparents who married you, recently married children or grandchildren, or recently married close relatives, your wife or husband or simply in your name for the joy of realizing this project.

Thank you in advance.

Beloved faithful,

“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:13). This is the good news that we want to experience together in the community of our “St. Andrew Orthodox Church” in Potomac, Maryland!

The life of each and every one of us is under the sign of God’s love, expressed in a perfect way through our Savior Jesus Christ. Everything begins and ends with God! He presents Himself to us through everything that surrounds us! In this respect, Saint Siluan the Athonite pronounces it in such a sublime way: “The soul lives long time on the earth and loves the earth’s beauty; it loves the sky and the sun, it loves the beautiful gardens, the sea and the rivers, the forests and the plains; it also loves music, and is delighted by all these earthly things. But when it knows our Lord Jesus Christ, it does not want to see anymore anything that is earthly.”

In our community, we want to feel together the love of God, and to respond to this love through our day-by-day life. We are called to have “Christ’s thoughts, and to think in a way similar to Him, in everything, to think Him” (Saint Maxim the Confessor).

We invite you to join our great spiritual family, if you have not already done so, and to bring your own unique and fundamental contribution to the growth and prosperity of the Christ’s Church on earth. “And, whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of The Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve The Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3: 23-24).

Do not disregard this call from The Lord, to serve Him with your full dedication and sincerity! We are called to accomplish many things together, and in particular to build a house to God.

Thank you!
